The Lord of the Flies is my Pop Art homage to William Golding’s novel and its unsettling vision of how quickly order can give way to chaos. I bring together recognizable images and contrasting characters to create a busy, playful scene with a darker idea underneath: the thin line between civilization and savagery. I enjoy using the energy and humor of Pop to make those contradictions collide, leaving the viewer to find their own way through the image. Acrylic on canvas. 80 × 100 cm (31.5 × 39.4 in).
