THE LION WHO KEPT THE SUN
Handmade Ceramic Candleholder
According to an old story that may or may not be true, every evening a lion catches the final ray of sunlight and keeps it safe through the night. By morning, he releases it again so the world can begin.
The Lion Who Kept the Sun is a one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture and functional candleholder, shaped and painted entirely by hand. Its reclining body, human-like expression, vivid orange mane, red claws, and irregular painted markings give it the character of a small mythological guardian—part lion, part storyteller, and keeper of the flame.
Handmade in low-fired ceramic using the majolica technique. Designed to hold a standard taper candle.
Dimensions: 20 cm long × 13 cm high (7.9 × 5.1 in), excluding the candle.
Weight: 1,080 g (2.38 lb).
Materials: Handmade ceramic, low-fired majolica, and glaze
One-of-a-kind artwork by Jaime Shelley.
Shipping available within Mexico.
Available for pickup at San Cayetano Studio.
Complimentary delivery within San Miguel de Allende.
