nvernal (Winter) brings together a childhood memory and a wonderfully improbable scene. The bear from El Oso shoe polish—a familiar figure from my early years—reappears as an American bear under attack by a dinosaur, while a cowboy steps in to defend it. I enjoy putting images and ideas from different worlds into the same picture, letting memory, popular culture, irony, and humor collide.
