Invasion
Invasion is a large-scale collision of images, characters, and worlds. Against a dark, restless background, vivid figures, animal forms, fragments of text, and graphic symbols push into one another and spill across the canvas. The eye never finds a single point of rest: each image interrupts, challenges, or transforms the next. The result is at once playful and unsettling, evoking the way images, ideas, and fantasies compete for our attention and occupy the spaces we inhabit.
Created a la alimón by Jaime Shelley and Lorenzo Ventura, the painting brings two artistic voices into an energetic exchange. Their collaboration gives the scene a shared, unruly quality, as though the image itself were being overtaken by the characters and forces it contains.
The painting received an Honorable Mention at the First Biennial of the Pedro Coronel Museum in Zacatecas.
Acrylic on canvas. 185 × 200 cm (72.8 × 78.7 in), height × width. 2007
