POW! In this painting, I bring together the visual language of comic-book explosions and familiar figures from popular culture to look at a world that often feels as if it’s spinning out of control. Woody from Toy Story and Daffy Duck appear in the middle of the impact, where childhood memories meet a more uneasy view of the present.
I enjoy setting contrasting ideas side by side: humor and destruction, playful images and serious questions about what we value. In a culture increasingly shaped by commerce, our ideals can start to feel temporary—packaged, sold, and quickly replaced. POW! is my colorful, irreverent reflection on what gets lost in that collision.
Acrylic on canvas, 57 × 49 inches (approximately 145 × 124.5 cm).
Free delivery within San Miguel de Allende, or pickup at San Cayetano Studio, Finca San Cayetano.
