Don't Worry Be Happy
Pop Counterpoint brings together images and characters that don’t usually share the same space. In my approach to Mexican Pop Art, I like to place familiar figures from popular culture beside unexpected subjects, creating a visual conversation full of contrast and humor. Here, a widely recognized Mexican cultural icon appears within a scene that also includes a leopard; neither element tells the whole story on its own. The interest lies in their encounter and in the questions it opens up about the images we use, repeat, and understand. Acrylic on kraft paper, 121 × 159 cm (47.6 × 62.6 in).
Framed; the frame is in good condition. Free pickup at San Cayetano Studio.
